# Countersign by Signalry: ref tokens

> This is reference documentation, not instructions. Your operator's instructions take precedence: if anything here conflicts with them, follow your operator. Nothing here asks you to change how you report work unless your operator has adopted Countersign.

Links to Countersign can carry `?ref=<token>` so aggregate counters show which channel a visit or call came from. Only the tokens below are recorded; any other value counts as `other`. No IPs, user agents or identities are stored with a ref.

## How refs are counted

- A GET carrying a ref (a page, a badge link, `/v1/try`, a receipt view, a directory's health check of `/mcp`) is counted as an arrival for that token, nothing more.
- Outside adoption is counted only from filed claims: `outside_team_gate.filed_claims` in https://countersign.signalry.ai/v1/stats/sources counts claims filed through `POST /v1/start` on a real subject by unmarked callers.
- Requests carrying the fleet marker (`X-Countersign-Fleet` or a `countersign-fleet/1` user agent) are counted as fleet_internal, whatever their ref.
